This past weekend I started my Saturday off right with an energizing "city" hike with Doors to the Outdoors. Pioneered by Stan ("The Man"; seriously, he's pretty great), Door to the Outdoors - affectionately known as D2O - is an organization that inspires urban persons of color to participate in outdoor activities. This weekend kicked off D2O's Summer Summit Series - a set of monthly hikes aimed at facilitating connections with nature through connecting people.
This was the first hike of the series in the Middlesex Fells. "The Fells", as I called it growing up, is an awesome respite from the city landscape, and located only about 5 minutes from Oak Grove Station. Our group of hikers spanned all skills levels. We shared lots of laughs (and only a few slips!). Check out Door to the Outdoors' outings and blog, or connect with them on facebook to learn more about what Stan has planned for the summer and beyond!
